Most basements are big enough to accommodate a lot of things we would like to add to our homes. Just take a look at the following basement remodeling ideas you can decide to pursue:

* You can convert it into a family den. Install a home theatre setup, with a wide screen HDTV as the centerpiece. Surround the place with a multitude of speakers, and experience those DVD movies come to life. Most basements have little ventilation. Though this is generally taken as a disadvantage, it is quite perfect for a home theatre. Since air has little chance of escaping, the sound will be contained more efficiently. Sound travels on air, after all. Just make sure to install a good air conditioning system to keep your family and guests comfortable.

* If you find that you never make it to the gym for workout, you can try transforming your basement into your own home gym.  All is you need to do is get some equipment, a nice TV or home theater and stereo system as well as may be a fan of some air-conditioning for the summer and you will no longer have an excuse to not work out every day. 

* Use your basement as a library or a study area. The problem with basements, as we have discussed above, is that, as often is the case, they're not properly ventilated. But this makes basements quieter, hence, perfect as a library or a study room. Again, the most important requirement for this basement remodeling idea is to install a good air conditioning system to keep the air circulating.

* Many folks loved the basement decorating idea of having a game room right downstairs.  You can set it up so that it can be for video games and you can also have a card table call a pool table in any of the other fun game tables that your family likes to play. While most homes do not have room a foosball table or ping-pong table, the basement is a perfect place with plenty of room to play.
