The Best Basement Flooring For Your Needs

If you are remodeling your cellar, then choosing the right basement flooring is key to achieve the look that you want.  If the flooring doesn't match with the overall decor it's got a look out of place, but a floor that blends in with the look you're going for adds to the overall ambience of the room.

Floors for basements come in three main varieties:

1. concrete;
2. tiled; and
3. wooden

The most durable and practical is concrete flooring which your basement probably already has.  Concrete will withstand most anything, however you must consider that it is very porous and can stain easily.  Although concrete is resistant to cracking it can crack but depending on the look you want this can actually add to your decor.  If you want to keep your concrete flying, you can stain it in a variety of ways to get different looks and you can even have designs stamped in it.

Wooden basement floors will most definitely look more elegant. Wood, after all, immediately conveys a more vintage feel to the surroundings. But the choice of wood will present some problems, as well. Wood is harder to maintain. You'd have to apply wax at a regular basis to preserve its luster. Otherwise, you'd realize that wood tends to get dirty really easily. Also, given the nature of the material, wood can get scratched rather easily as well.

Tiles are always a good option for basement flooring. Here you can choose from a wide variety of materials and colors to get just the look you are going for. Tiles also hold up well and are not prone to damage so are a good choice where basements will be actively used.
